In this event, we catched up on the theme we discussed in the 15th Green Dİalouge which took place in December 2018. A group conversaton has held with the precious contrubutions of Arzu Erturan from Street is Ours Organisation and Akif Burak Atlar from City Planing Chambers of Istanbul. Event has been modarated by one of our own volunteer, Aylin Ezgi Yılmaz.
Akif Burak Atlar started with taking on the so called 2009 Enviromental Master Plan, which has been accepted in 2009 by The City Council of Istanbul. That plan was not only recoganising the Northern Forests of Istanbul and its extended parts as the procted zones,also as the parts that needs to be rehabilitated. Today a newly erected International Airport on that area has made this plan obselete. In the lights of recent events, participants has discussed current situation after Atlar’s presantation of ‘Ecological Cirses and Planing’.
In second session, Arzu Erturan offered the theme of unattainability for discussing the current transportation situation in Istanbul. Presentation discussed the possibility of a -not vehicle but human- orianted mobility perspective and ides that can offer sustainable and integrated solutions. Particapants also have the chance to hear about Organisation’s(street is Ours) experience during couple of their campaings which are called ‘Once a month street is ours!‘ and ‘Where is the pavement?‘. Finally we discussed future colloborations with participants and our guest organisation.
During the Q&A,we discussed the individual responsibilities. Participants have reflected on publicly inclusive, science based, sustainable transportaion policy proposals. Puclic and private endavours which go hand in hand was a common desired point in the nights closing remarks…
