Cities As Places of Hope
The needs that emerged under the conditions of the pandemic once again showed the importance of livable cities. In this process;
Accessible, comfortable and planned green spaces for everyone,
Cities accessible by bike and foot
Comfortable, climate-friendly and clean public transportation vehicles,
A city administration that demonstrates the existence of social support and solidarity opportunities
There were prominent needs for green cities.
In many cities, even if some of these opportunities are provided, they cannot be integrated into the governance plan in a sustainable and standardized framework.
But inspiring practices make some cities more livable. With the Place of Hope Green Cities Project, we aim to create a strong communication and solidarity network that will enable access to information and policies by compiling experiences and needs on sustainable and green city management and related policies together with green associations in different cities in Europe. In this study, making the actors of the city effective and visible in city policies is one of our biggest goals.
In this context, we will carry out the following activities in this project carried out by GEF with the support of the Green Thought Association in Turkey.
Workshops for green cities: In order to access data and indicators on green and sustainable urban policies in Istanbul, and to create visible and effective green policies with participatory practices, two consecutive workshops will be held with a small focus group consisting of IMM and City actors, as screening and solution proposals. The results of the workshop will be reported and shared with the public.
